Glowing Green Smoothie

So, I’ve been dipping into the chip bowl again (Miss Vickie’s Original, I can’t resist you!) and now I’m feeling the need to get my system back in balance, fast. Nothing does it better or quicker than a few big, juicy, green smoothies. The perfect yin to my Miss Vickie’s yang.

  1. This looks yummy! I just discovered my favorite smoothie. Ingredients are frozen bananas, almond butter, cocoa powder, water, spinach cube (cooked in advance and frozen in ice cube trays), cinnamon, and vanilla. And, thanks for so many “likes” on my posts. 🙂 Cheers!

  2. Laurel, do you find the blender is able to grind down the celery fully? I was wondering if you were using a juicer, but then read that you said “blend”. Curious because my blender would leave a pulpy mess. I’m seriously considering investing in a Vitamix, but it seems extravagant just for smoothie usage. 🙂

    • I love Vitamix blenders! I drool over them every time there is a demo at Whole Foods and will definitely get one at some point. You can use them for everything. Hummus, homemade peanut butter…so much more. To answer your question, I chop the celery really finely before putting it in the blender and blend for a long time. But, yep, it’s a little pulpy. So many of my smoothies are that I think I’ve just gotten used to it. I’ve never had a juicer. I’ve heard they’re hard to clean and throwing out the pulp seems kind of wasteful, plus I know so many people who have bought a juicer, used if for a couple of weeks, and then it ends up either in a closet or on craigslist. Have a fun weekend Nancy! I can’t wait to hear about your upcoming hike 🙂

      • All done with my hike Laurel! It was Thursday. Yesterday was some amazing sightseeing at Antelope Canyon and Lake Powell. Home today, nursing my wounds. Blog posts to follow. 🙂

ps Yes on the juicer. Totally.
